About Kim

I'm Welsh but grew up in America, and I'm now back in Wales where I belong.

I trained as an osteopath at the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, Kent, before moving to West Wales in 2009. Before that, I worked as a sports therapist and, earlier, as an environmental consultant.

As a sports therapist I worked for over five years with club and army level rugby players and cyclists of all abilities, and I have cycled on American and European roads for over 35 years. I was registered with the General Osteopathic Council for eight years, voluntarily resigning from the Register in July 2017.

I was recommended to Kim by a friend. Right from the start I felt I received individual special treatment in a very relaxed environment. After treatment I felt I had enormous energy and a feeling of well being and looked forward to my next appointment.

Thank you Kim for all the hard work and effort you take to make me pain free and so much less stiff and creaky. I have found Kim to be a first-rate osteopath, skilled in identifying the cause of problems, with a wide range of corrective techniques to restore full movement. Kim always makes you feel relaxed by taking time to explain what she is doing and the effect the treatment will have.
Paul Jenkins, Saundersfoot
Kim has straightened me out on more than one occasion. After a kitesurfing accident that left me with two bulging discs and a fractured vertebra, using a mixture of Kim's osteopathy and rehabilitation Pilates, I was good to go several weeks later. We regularly refer some of our clients to Kim.
Tim & Rebecca Leary, Pembroke
I struggled with a back condition for over a week before googling 'osteopath Narberth' and finding Kim at Valley Gate. From the first session the pain reduced significantly, and after a few appointments I was back to normal, pain-free movement. She has also helped me recover from major shoulder surgery. She is truly awesome.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during my first visit?

A detailed case history will be taken, covering your medical history, occupation, lifestyle and presenting complaint. You'll normally be asked to undress to your underwear and perform simple movements, after which a full diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed. If appropriate, treatment is given during the first visit.

What should I expect from treatment?

Techniques include massage, muscle stretching, passive rhythmic joint movements and high velocity thrusts, which may produce a painless popping sound. Cranial osteopathy, an extremely gentle approach, may also be used. It's not unusual to feel a little stiff for up to 24 hours afterwards, with ice packs helping recovery.

What is the difference between an osteopath and a chiropractor?

Both tend to treat similar conditions with similar techniques, with significant overlap. Osteopaths use the bones as levers to improve muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia and organs, taking a holistic view based on healthy circulation and the principle that structure governs function. Chiropractic appointments tend to be shorter and more frequent, while osteopaths tend to spend more time per visit with treatments spaced further apart.
